Join our Coaches in a FREE Q&A panel at our Interest Meeting for the upcoming season. Head Coach Erin will be available to describe how the season looks and runs for new swimmers and parents, and update returning swimmers and parents on the comings of the new season. Our coaches will go over requirements and protocols, equipment, finances, fundraisers, and any other questions one may have! The meeting will be held at the Wilkes-Barre YMCA at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 4th. The meeting will proceed immediately after our One-Day Prospect Practice.

Our Dolphins swim team is open to swimmers ages 5-8, or those new to competitive swimming. All swimmers must be able to complete one lap (25 yards) of a continuous and recognizable stroke without the need of flotation.

Our season begins on October 12th. Mini Dolphins will practice 1 hour per day, 4 days per week. Practice days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, starting at 5:30 pm. 

All swim team practices will happen at the Wilkes-Barre Area High School pool located at 2021 Wolfpack Way, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705. The pool is located at the very left side of the building, with the closest parking being available in Lot C.

In the event that the high school needs to cancel a single day of practice, practice may be able to be moved to the YMCA. As fees are season-based, credits/refunds will not be given unless there are extenuating circumstances. All refund and credit requests can only be approved by the Aquatics Coordinator.

Our High School Swim Team is open to swimmers ages 13-18 who are capable of swimming for longer periods of time.

High School will practice 2 hours per day, 4-5 days per week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, with possible weekends. Practice times will typically start at 6 PM. 

Swimmers who compete with their high school swim team will be discounted to $45 a month due to conflicting schedules between high school and YMCA. High school practices will be prioritized, but double practices will be encouraged depending on Coach.

For just $15, your swimmer can experience what a typical practice is like—starting with a 30-minute stretch and dryland workout, followed by an hour of pool time with the team.

After practice, there will be an informational meeting for parents—new, returning, and those just interested—covering details about the upcoming season.

Join Us for the WBY Swim Team’s Annual Fall Stroke Clinic!

Kick off the swim season with the WBY Swim Team’s fall stroke clinic—designed to improve technique, build speed, and increase endurance across all four competitive strokes. Led by our experienced coaching staff, this clinic is perfect for swimmers looking to sharpen their skills and gain a competitive edge.

Schedule:

Freestyle week: Sept. 8, 10, 11

Backstroke week: Sept. 15, 17, 18

Butterfly week: Sept. 22, 24, 25

Breaststroke week: Sept. 29, Oct. 1, 2

Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
Ages 10 &U: 5:30-6:30

11& Over: 6:30-7:45

Open to swimmers ages 5–18, including those new to competitive swimming.

Our stroke & turn clinics are open to both YMCA members and non-members. Each session will focus on a different stroke, paired with age-appropriate workouts to help swimmers stay fit and focused heading into the new season. Each week is only $25 registration fee!

Come swim for the WBY Swim Team! We will be hosting open “try-outs” for all new swimmers of all ages during our first fall practice on October 12th at Wilkes-Barre Area High School! This “try-out” consists of the coach gauging the swimming skills of your swimmer. In order to swim for the team with no restrictions, all swimmers must be able to swim one lap (25 yards) of the pool with no stopping. This is also a chance for your swimmer to see how a full practice is run during the season. These “try-outs” are free!
