THIS PROGRAM IS FOR YMCA MEMBERS ONLY.

Our Dolphins swim team is open to swimmers ages 5-8, or those new to competitive swimming. All swimmers must be able to complete one lap (25 yards) of a continuous and recognizable stroke without the need of flotation.

Our season begins on October 6th. Mini Dolphins will practice 1 hour per day, 4 days per week. Practice days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, starting at 5:30 pm. 

All swim team practices will happen at the Wilkes-Barre Area High School pool located at 2021 Wolfpack Way, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705. The pool is located at the very left side of the building, with the closest parking being available in Lot C.

In the event that the high school needs to cancel a single day of practice, practice may be able to be moved to the YMCA. As fees are season-based, credits/refunds will not be given unless there are extenuating circumstances. All refund and credit requests can only be approved by the Aquatics Coordinator.

Freeland’s Valentine’s Day meet will be held at the Wilkes-Barre CYC on February 7th. Session 1 will begin at 10:30 am with warm-ups starting at 9:00 am. Session 2 warm up will start immediately after the conclusion of session 1.

ENTRY FEES: Swimmer individual event: $7.00; Relay Event: $20. There are no fees for coaches attending with their team.

ENTRY LIMITS : Swimmer may compete in up to four (4) events and two (2) relays in session 1. Swimmers can swim up to two (2) events in session 2.

OFFICIALS AND TIMERS: Each team in the division must provide, at the least, three (3) timers and one (1) certified official for each session of the championship meet. Additional volunteers are welcome and encouraged.

Our Killer Whales Swim Team is open to swimmers ages 13-18 who are capable of swimming for longer periods of time.

Killer Whales will practice 2 hours per day, 4-5 days per week. Practice times will typically start at 6 PM. 

All swim team practices will take place at the Wilkes-Barre Area High School pool located at 2021 Wolfpack Way, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705. The pool is located at the very left side of the building, with closest parking being available in Lot C. 

In the event that the high school needs to cancel a single day of practice, practice may not be able to be moved to the YMCA. As fees are season-based, credits/refunds will not be given unless there are extenuating circumstances. All refund and credit requests can only be approved by the Aquatics Coordinator. Swimmers who compete with their high school swim team will be discounted to $45 a month due to conflicting schedules between high school and YMCA. 

Monroe Champs will be held at Bloomsburg Middle School on January 31st. Swimmers 13 and over will begin warm-ups at 7:00 a.m. for Session 1, while swimmers 12 and under will swim in Session 2, starting at noon.

ENTRY FEES: Swimmer surcharge: $7. Swimmer individual event: $7.00; Relay Event: $21. There are no fees for coaches attending with their team.

ENTRY LIMITS : Swimmer may compete in up to four (4) events, of which no more than three (3) may be individual events. Deck entries are not permitted.

Orcas will practice 1 1/2 hours per day, 4 days per week. Practice days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, starting at 6 pm.
