About Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA

ABOUT US

The YMCA is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. That’s because a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. We focus our work in three key areas which are; nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier, and supporting our neighbors because they are the fundamentals to strengthening communities. For 160 years, our YMCA has remained relevant to individuals and communities as they change and evolve, while maintaining our core mission. With a mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all, our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when a community comes together for the common good.

To us, strengthening people ultimately leads to a stronger, more caring community. People give of their time, talent and financial support to ensure that individuals can have a beneficial and rewarding experience at our Y. By inspiring and involving people, we believe our holistic perspective “in spirit, mind and body” is to be reflected in all we do.

It is the policy of the YMCA to provide Membership and Programs for ALL. Those who are not able to pay the full fee may be awarded partial assistance based on their ability to pay and the YMCA’s ability to fund the subsidy. Subsidies will be offered to the extent that funds are available and are given on a first come first serve basis. Funds are made possible through the generous gifts of individuals and local businesses. Please stop by the Y and let one of our friendly member services representatives know that you would like to discuss Financial Assistance.

Our YMCA Board of Directors, Executives, Team Leaders and Staff promote diversity, inclusion, and global efforts and call for access and engagement of all in the community regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, national origin, faith, age, income levels, sexual orientation, immigration status or other protected status.
