Steph Bewley, Executive Branch Director

Steph started working in the camp industry as a counselor while attending college at West Chester University. After graduation, she began working as the Camp & Enrichment Director at the Lionville YMCA, where she grew the day camp programs, expanded the art class offerings, and developed programs for youth with diverse abilities. In addition to greatly enhancing the camp and enrichment departments, she earned her Team Leader Certification through the YMCA of the USA.

In 2019, Steph joined the Camp Kresge team as the Camp & Conference Director. She loves seeing returning campers come back each summer and meeting new camp families each year. Steph’s favorite thing about camp is the exciting theme days, especially the Annual Cardboard Regatta. During her time at Camp Kresge, Steph completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting, allowing the opportunity to shift into the Business Manager role. She is also a visitor for the American Camp Association, ensuring camp is meeting the highest possible standards. She is looking forward to working closely with our camp families to provide amazing service, communication, and year-round camp programming.

Nick Pincin, Sr. Director of Camp Programs and Facilities

Nick started his Y career in 2011, where he developed a passion for working with the local community to have a positive impact on others. He has been a life-long camper, earning his Eagle Scout and working as a camp counselor in college. Before arriving at Camp Kresge in 2019, Nick gained experience working for the Y as a Camp & Sports Director and Aquatics Director.

Nick enjoys working in the camp field because everyday is a new adventure and he gets to know the local and international community so well. During camp, Nick focuses on giving campers new experiences and helping them learn new things. He is an ACA (American Camp Association) lead visitor and often tours other camps to make sure that they are operating in a safe manner. Nick completed his Team Leader Certification through the YMCA of the USA. He is also a US Sailing Certified Instructor, Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, and continues to build Camp Kresge’s waterfront activities.

Courtney Sminkey, Outdoor Education Director

Courtney’s love for the outdoors and nature started from a young age. She was a camper at a nearby summer camp starting from age 8 and joined the staff as a counselor after graduating high school in 2016. She worked as a summer camp counselor and also seasonally as a year-round activities leader with visiting school or rental groups. She joined the Camp Kresge team during the Fall season of 2021, first as an Outdoor Education Instructor and then as the Outdoor Education Director. Since then, she has fallen in love with the program and teaching kids about the wonders of nature.

Courtney has an Arts degree in Photography and is working towards earning her Leader Certification from the YMCA of the USA. Courtney is a member of the local Puppy Raising group PawsAbilities, for the Seeing Eye Puppy Raising Program. She has helped to raise over 10 puppies for training to become service dogs for those with vision impairment.

Her current goals for the Outdoor Education Program are to expand the different class offerings to appeal to a broader age range of students. Courtney’s background in nature, teaching, and creative arts combine to produce a unique appreciation for the natural world. She strives to share her passion, admiration and curiosity with the next generation of learners.
