Child Care
Gym Teacher
Part-time position available ay $10-$11 per hour. Must have the ability to travel to and from elementary school and the YMCA. This position will develop and execute warm ups, physical activities and cool downs for 45 min classes twice a day/ 2 days a week. Provide minor first aid when needed. Use playground, indoor space and gymnasium locations.

CHILD CARE DIRECTOR
This job description is applicable to an administrative position as the child care director of the Hazleton YMCA. The eligible candidate must be bilingual: Spanish & English. The Hazleton YMCA is a branch of the Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA Association. This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Child Care Operations for the Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Child Care Operations, this position will create a positive, safe and supportive learning environment for the staff and children in their direct care. This position will maintain all DHS regulations, as well as maintain the Keystone STARS quality initiative throughout the center. This position will participate in all other Y activities as necessary, and fully support the mission of the Y.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Support all staff under the childcare umbrella with needs that may arise.
2. Observe, assess and evaluate staff based on the outlined guidance for center operations.
3. Host monthly staff meetings, updating all staff on center wide policies, events and changes. Staff
meetings should also be used to manage Keystone STARS topics and standards.
4. Create and supervise a staff schedule, completing Time Track at the end of each pay period to
ensure staff are paid correctly.
5. Interview and hire quality staff to maintain the quality of the center.
6. Complete staff training, and orientation as needed upon hire. Set new staff up with mentor staff to
transition them into their role.
7. ALWAYS maintain proper staff-to-child ratio, with NO exceptions.
8. Ensure the center is clean upon closing the room and leaving for the day.
9. Complete center orders for supplies and approve all staff spending.
10. Follow all guidelines for Keystone STARS, DHS and the Y.
11. Maintain good attendance, and proper notice for requested days off/PTO use.
12. Participate in activities that support the Y and facilitate at least one fundraiser annually to support
the child care department.
13. This position is not limited to the above components. This person should be flexible and able to adapt to the changing needs of the center, and the Y.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Four Background Checks; Criminal Background, Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprinting and NSOR.
2. An Associates or Bachelors Degree in ECE, ELED or other related field
3. Three years leadership experience
4. Five years teaching Early Learning experience
5. Director Credential (May be completed after hire)
6. CPR/AED/First Aid Training (May be completed after hire)
7. STARS 101 and 102 and Mandated Reporter Training (May be completed after hire)
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Valid driver’s license and one year of driving experience
2. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
3. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
4. Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
5. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
6. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
7. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act
swiftly in an emergency.
SALARY AND SCHEDULE
This is a salaried position, paid bimonthly on the fourth and the 19th of each month. Flexible schedule, but should expect to work between 40 and 45 hours per week. This person should schedule themselves in the center between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily.
