Wellbeing Initiative

Wellbeing Initiative

The YMCA is known as a place where an individual can seek community, connection and physical wellness. Through the Wellbeing Initiative we seek to add to that legacy by also making the YMCA a place where individuals, families, and the community can go in order to cultivate and strengthen their emotional, mental, and social wellness.

We believe in the pursuit of health, happiness, recovery and a full, satisfying life in the community. We acknowledge that each individual’s path will be different, but by addressing every aspect of one’s wellness, we can help improve a person’s life. Since we believe that cultivating and strengthening an individual’s emotional and mental health and wellness is a critical component to one’s overall health and wellness.

All programming through to the Wellbeing Initiative is FREE to EVERYONE! (Non-members & Members)

The Wellbeing Initiative will offer the YMCA the community a myriad of opportunities to enhance and support their emotional and mental health and wellness. We will do this through a combination of educational and awareness programming, specialized instruction, social-emotional learning, workshops and seminars, community collaborations, as well as connection to community resources and services.

Elevate Your Energy: Kundalini Yoga

Pittston
5/1/24 - 5/29/24
VIEW

This energizing class is led by Allie O’Kane, 500 HR RYT and is held on Wednesdays from 6:45-7:45PM at The Greater Pittston YMCA in The Group Exercise Room.

Kundalini yoga is a powerful and ancient practice that combines dynamic movements, breathwork, mantra chanting, and meditation to awaken the dormant energy within oneself. This energy, when awakened, can help to balance and harmonize your emotional and mental state, bringing about a sense of inner peace, clarity, and overall well being.
Through the practice of Kundalini yoga, one will learn techniques to release stress, anxiety, and negative emotions that may be affecting your mental and emotional health. The combination of movement, breathwork, and meditation helps to calm the nervous system, reduce mental chatter, and create a state of deep relaxation and inner stillness. Kundalini yoga is known for its ability to activate the glandular system and release feel-good hormones. This can result in an uplifted mood, increased emotional resilience, and a greater sense of overall well being.
Whether you are looking to manage stress, improve emotional well being, or cultivate a calm and focused mind, then Kundalini will provide you with the tools and techniques to support your journey towards inner harmony and well being.
Please bring your own mat as desired, a limited number will be provided.

Qi Gong Infused Yoga

Pittston
4/25/24 - 5/2/24
VIEW

Qi Gong Infused Yoga is held by 200 hour registered yoga instructor, Donna Pretko! Class is held weekly on Thursdays from 6:00-7:00PM at LCCC Pittston Center, Room #4.

Qi translates to subtle breath or vital energy. Gong translates to skills cultivated through steady practice. These words describe an ancient practice that harnesses the power of breath, movement, and intention setting to create health and balance within the mind and body.

This class includes asana (yoga) poses, breathwork, meditation, acupressure holds, self-massage, and energy clearings to amplify the healing power of your mind, body, and spirit. The result is deep love, appreciation, and acceptance of yourself just as you are now. The combined practices focus on energy, helping it to flow freely. People tend to feel their best mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually when their energy flows freely.

Please bring a mat as desired, a limited number will be provided. No experience necessary.
