American Red Cross Certification Courses
The YMCA is proud to offer American Red Cross certification courses designed to prepare participants with lifesaving skills for aquatic and emergency response settings. All courses are taught by certified instructors following American Red Cross standards, and successful participants receive official Red Cross certification upon completion.
Lifeguarding Certification
This course prepares participants to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies in pools and water environments.
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification, First Aid, CPR/AED (valid for 2 years)
Course Includes: Lifeguarding skills and surveillance, water rescue techniques, first aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers
Emergency action scenarios and teamwork.
Prerequisites: Must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class, must successfully complete the Red Cross pre-course swim requirements, participants must attend all scheduled class sessions and successfully complete all skill and written evaluations.
CPR / AED & First Aid Certification
This course teaches participants how to respond to medical emergencies in adults, children, and infants.
Certification Earned: American Red Cross CPR/AED & First Aid (valid for 2 years)
Course Covers: Adult, child, and infant CPR, AED operation and safety, choking relief, basic first aid skills and emergency response techniques.

Coaches, teachers, childcare providers, employees requiring certification, lifeguards and aquatic staff or anyone wanting to learn life-saving skills.
Important Information
Courses are taught at the YMCA by certified instructors. Certifications are issued through the American Red Cross. Classes include blended learning with online coursework before in-person training. Full attendance and successful skill demonstration are required for certification.
